Our Pastor's Statement of Belief:

  • I believe that any statement of belief, creed, or interpretation will be imperfect and incomplete; who can fully explain Almighty God? In the following “Statement of Belief," however, I will humbly (and briefly) attempt to describe my own Christian beliefs.
  • I believe that the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, form the foundation of the Church’s belief. The authority of the Bible is best described in 2 Timothy 3:15-17. All Scripture is the direct and true special revelation of God. It can be trusted as an accurate testimony to us, “for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction…(KJV).” By the Bible, we learn about God, and are able to judge the opinions and leadings of human beings. God’s written word is rightly understood through knowing and believing “The Word” - - our Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:18; Hebrews 1:1-2).
  • I believe that the Lord is one. He created all that is, and all is sustained by His power. He has revealed Himself in three persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Mark 12:29; Acts 17:24-28; Matthew 28:19; I Peter 1:2; Romans 8:11
  • I believe that all people have sinned by turning from God. This is humanity’s central Problem. No one can earn God’s grace with their own efforts. Romans 3:10,23; Ephesians 2:8-9
  • I believe that God loves His creatures so much that He sent His only Son into the world among us. In Jesus Christ, God became a man, and showed us who He is. In His love and obedience to the Father, Jesus took on the form of a servant. Jesus was put to death on the cross for our sins. I believe that Christ died for us, His body was laid in a tomb, and His Father raised Him from the dead on the third day. By putting our faith in Christ’s sacrifice for us, we are forgiven by God of our own sin. By putting our faith in His resurrection from the dead, we are assured that we too will be raised to glory at Christ’s return. Those who truly believe in Christ are not only saved by Him, but they also follow Him as Lord of their lives. By Christ, God’s Holy Spirit comes to live in every believer, guiding, sanctifying, and transforming us. John 1:1,14; 3:16; Philippians 2:5-11; Romans 5:8; 8:8-13, I Corinthians 6:17,19
  • I believe that until He comes to judge the living and the dead, Christ is working in the world through His body: the Church. The Church is made up of all people who have placed their faith in Christ’s sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins, and have accepted His Lordship over their lives. The Father sends His Spirit to work in us in carrying out our great mission: “…go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19-20, New Living Translation).” 2 Timothy 4:1; 1 Corinthians 12:27: Acts 2:37-47
